"Blindfold"
Words & Music, Tom Sperrazzo 2022
I never see it at all
Self-inflicted blindness;
A flower hugging the wall
I'm missing every call;
My mouth goes slack and I just hold back;
Me, a withering sack, I turn away!
The action's happening right there--
Underneath my blank stare;
I may be played for a fool--It's cra-zy..
One less precious day--
A day that I'll never get back--
It's lost to time!
I gotta ask:
What's the hitch, what's the catch, the snag?
What's the use?
I wind up holding the bag.
What part's not there?
I need repair
I'm too timid to act.
I want to care!
I never knew it was near,
Your soon-to-hit-me kindness;
One whispered word in my ear--
Life changed that day;
'Cause you washed away my blindness,
And opened up my eyes;
It was good old-fashioned kindness
That gave me life.
