"Brother, Pop and Me"

Saturday mornings we'd quietly slip out
On one of our weekend treks;
The 3 of us fishing or just on a bike ride
Or walking our old dog Rex ;
Those were the best times, the absolute best times--
Happy and playfully free;
He gave up his 'me-time';
Instead it was 'we-time' for
BROTHER, POP & ME.
Off in the car we would go for soccer,
Pop and his two li'l guys;
Mother would watch from her front porch rocker
Waving a fond goodbye;
Now I believe her smile was saying:
"This scene is heaven for me!".
So as she was beaming
The dream she was dreaming was
BROTHER, POP & ME.
Well, the years have trundled by
And they've all passed.
Still the memories of those days
Forever last.
Life was fine, her three guys
Dad put a shine in Mother's eyes.
Now as I sit in my front porch rocker
Enjoying my golden years,
Waving good-bye to my two young grandsons
Off to their new careers;
They've had the best times, the absolute best times;
Their dads learned it all from me;
'Cause that's what I passed down,
Just what was passed down from
BROTHER, POP & ME.
