"The Peaceful Life"

Words and Lyrics by Tom Sperrazzo 2022

I wasn't meant to lead a fancy city life;
But then a wife and kids and workin' nine-to-five--
Living one day at a time;
I couldn't stop dreamin' 'about the bubblin' streams
And catfish on the line.

Wanna get on back to where my people come from;
'Was miles away from busy city streets,
Peacefully snug in the hills;
I dream of being where the air is sweet
The sound of whipoorwills.

Face to face on a crowded train,
Watching the passing gray day;
Let them think that I've gone insane
Cause I chose a better way?

I'm gonna take my boy down to the lazy brook
Then we'll drop a hook right where they always bite;
Catfish for dinner tonight!
I never look back because my kids and wife
We love this peaceful life.
