Havin' a blast with the contest;

Thanks for lettin' me tune in;

So many song ideas means I'm obsessed,

Wakin' up way before 6 to begin.

 

This coming Wednesday is Ashes,

Time for reflection and rest;

And to prepare my soul for my Lord

I'm gonna give up the thing I love best.

 

You might think it's odd:

Giving up music for God.

But this is my sacrifice--

Didn't think 'bout it twice.

 

 

Puttin' away the keyboard and mic,

Closin' up shop for the season;

Quieting life to reflect on the 'why';

Everything points to the reason.
