Words & Music by Tom Sperrazzo

How could we know?  We couldn't know.

How would we know just when the time was right?  We didn't know.

We're left alone;  yes, we're alone

We're here alone--no one to lead us on, so we're alone

We thought it all so near, our hope at last was here!

All fell before Him, His name we all revered!

The future seemed so bright--all over in one night!

We suddenly lost Him, tragically lost the fight.

So here we stand, this little band;

Don't understand who's going to lead us now, we are out-manned.

It's so unfair, up in the air,

We're unprepared to carry on like this, we're very scared.

It's true we saw Him rise, appeared before our eyes.

Spoke to us plainly showed us His hand and side;

Told us we'd be fine, together stay confined;

Gave us a promise, said it was good for all time;

But now we are left here, praying for His next sign.

He told us not to fear--an advocate was near;

Anxiously waiting, desperately waiting, clinging to hope and wanting it so.

Somethin's happening...wind is swirlin'...tongues of fire...words unfurling!!

Holy Spirit, come!  Come and ignite our hearts!

Holy Spirit, come!  Come and ignite our hearts!

Now we see the world through clearer eyes,

Now we have a path to chart!

Holy Spirit, come!  Come and ignite our hearts!

Holy Spirit, come!  Come and ignite our hearts!

Now the Word's alive in every tongue!

A thousand more today to start!

Holy Spirit, come! Come and ignite our hearts!

Holy Spirit, come! Come and ignite our hearts!
