"Rock Song"

Words & Music by Tom Sperrazzo
We were on the shore when our catch was done
Brother and I, we were called to come.
They were sitting alone were the brothers two;
Mending their nets when they heard it too.
I swear it's the truth--that's just how it started--
Called out of the blue to something new.
At the money stand by the inland sea,
A sinner was called, a surprise to me.
In the noonday sun, 'neath the old fig tree
Another was called, he was just like me.
A dozen nobodies then
He would make us fishers of men
And that's when I heard the walk he gave me
He started calling me "Rock" for all to see.
But he was unlike any man I knew
What could I do? I just followed.
Leaving behind everything we knew,,
Walking in faith but without a clue.
He pulled me right off the seas;
Then he handed me heaven's keys.
He picked me out of the ocean;
And why he chose me I haven't a notion.
I was just a broken man;
How could I rock the nations?
The story just hadn't sold me.
But something in his eyes just told me:
This simple band of no ones
Was sure to shepherd the message to millions;
Unlike any news before!
Preaching the words of love.
On the glory day when the spirit came,
We were born again and alive with flame.
Now I see his wisdom,
Handing me the keys to His kingdom;
I was a simple no one--
And in a moment of weakness I failed him;
But in his mercy, pow'r and grace
This poor sinner found his place.
