"Sons of Thunder"
Words and Lyrics by Tom Sperrazzo 2022
Pushing off, heading out for the deep,
On the sea, working hard for their keep;
Coming home after hardly a bite;
Empty nets, a discouraging sight;
There on the sea shore
Awaited much more.
Good of heart, but their spirits were down;
Always known as "the brothers in town";
They all called them Johnny and Jim;
That all changed on the day they met Him;
His word enflamed them;
Then He renamed them.
See how they've changed, they've been touched by wonder
No longer boys, they're the SONS OF THUNDER!
To a life set apart from friends,
He ordained them as fishers of men;
Sent away to proclaim two-by-two's,
The coming age and the Gospel Good News;
No riches aid them;
His spirit made them.
These are the boys who've been touched by wonder.
Now they are known as the SONS OF THUNDER!
They have been dressed with a cloak of wonder.
They have been blessed as the SONS OF THUNDER!
