"Survival Song"

Words & Music by Tom Sperrazzo, 2020

Gath'r'n up sunshine for tomorrow;
Huddling under the sycamore's shade;
Storing up dressings for my sorrow;
Fightin' to live, so I might possibly be re-made.

Didn't turn out like all my day dreams;
Couldn't have known 'bout the sabotage schemes.

Running from demons who stalk me;
Toward a world that should be;
Got to carry through.

Mightily battled 'gainst tempestuous rage;
Constantly beat down in a merciless storm;
Luckily shored up in the war I waged;
Hoping to get back to some beautious warm.

Skipper'd my lifeboat though the dark haze;
Settled a course on a faraway frontier;
Nourished by sunshine from the good days;
That's how I survived and how I finally got right here.
